Seestadt is an ongoing project started in 2013 about the development of a new area in Vienna. The suburb, integrated into the 22nd district, is called Seestadt-Aspern and is located in the eastern part of the city, over the area of an abandoned airport. The construction works started in 2008 will continue until 2030, so that in the end 20.000 people will be able to reside there.

Along the years, the whole area has being experiencing a continuous transformation, slowly revealing its identity: around the edge of an artificial lake modern buildings, high-rises, parks and cycle lanes are rising up. Seestadt, the “lake-city“, is a construction site, where new inhabitants and curious visitors define day by day the use of the areas where the urban elements are not completed yet. The photographs, shot between October 2013 and November 2016, capture the unique condition of this unfinished and transitory place in a specific unrepeatable moment.
